The Long Fin Leopard Danio is a line bred variation of this much loved temperate aquarium staple. These little fish were once upon a time used as a means to cycle aquariums and as lab fish and are still widely regarded as practically bomb proof. They are a shoaling species that should be kept in groups of 6 or more specimens and can be kept with most other species, though long finned fish should be avoided as the Danios are known for nipping. They will adapt to a wide range of conditions and prefer cooler tanks, making them an ideal candidate for temperate set ups. The aquarium should be planted with an open swimming space available. A tight fitting lid is essential as Leopard Danios are accomplished jumpers.
Ideal tank mates will include Rosy Barbs, Rainbow Shiners and Hillstream loaches, among other temperate fish.
Food can be offered in the form of micro pellets as well as fresh or frozen fish foods.
