The Leopard Bush Fish is a striking predator from the Gourami family. Its natural behaviour is to stay in one place, nose pointing downwards and waiting for prey that may have mistaken it for a leaf to come close. Unfortunately because of this, the Leopard Bush can't be kept with smaller species of community fish as it will regard most fish as food. With that said, they are also not a particularly aggressive species and will not do well in predator tanks with large, belligerent species of predators. A heavily planted tank of large peaceful community fish will be ideal.

The aquarium should be spacious and well planted with lots of tall plants as well as floating varieties to give this fish places to hide or lurk amongst. The water should be soft and acidic and the flow fairly gentle. They are best kept as a single specimen or in groups of 5 or more. Smaller groups always result in in-fighting and can have some nasty consequences.

As with all Gouramies, these fish are labyrinth fish and should be given a small gap between the surface of the water and the coverslides to allow them to breathe atmospheric air.

Please note: These fish are still juveniles and have yet to colour up. The fish you are buying may not be identical to the ones in the photo.
