Frozen Whitebait 450g Fish Food

Frozen Whitebait 450g is a natural whole-fish food for larger carnivorous aquarium fish and predatory aquatic animals. The small fish are individually quick frozen, making them easy to separate and portion without having to defrost the entire bag.

Particularly useful for larger tropical and marine predators, whitebait provides a substantial meaty meal and is ideal for species that naturally consume whole fish as part of their diet. BCUK’s current pack is officially listed as 454g, although Shirley’s existing product title uses the rounded 450g weight.

Frozen Whitebait 450g

Whole whitebait provides fish with a natural feeding experience and is particularly well suited to larger carnivorous species including piranhas, puffers and triggerfish. It can also be offered to suitable predatory cichlids and other fish capable of handling whole or chopped fish.

Because the whitebait are individually frozen rather than formed into a solid block, it’s easy to take out only the number required for each feeding.

Ideal for Larger Carnivorous Fish

Whitebait is considerably larger than foods such as bloodworm, brine shrimp or mysis and is therefore intended primarily for larger predators.

Smaller carnivorous species can also be offered whitebait provided it is thoroughly defrosted and chopped into appropriately sized pieces before feeding.

Suitable for Aquatic Invertebrates

Frozen whitebait isn’t limited to fish. It can also provide a meaty food for suitable carnivorous aquatic invertebrates, including larger crabs and crayfish.

This makes it particularly handy for fishkeepers maintaining predatory species that require more substantial foods than conventional frozen blister packs.

Individually Quick Frozen

The whitebait are graded for size and individually quick frozen, helping to maintain freshness while preventing the entire pack from freezing into one inconvenient lump. Shirley’s existing product information also confirms the food is gamma irradiated.

Feeding

Defrost the required number of whitebait thoroughly before feeding. They can be offered whole to suitably sized predators or chopped into smaller pieces where necessary.

Feed only an appropriate amount and remove uneaten food before it begins to deteriorate and affect water quality.

Keep frozen until required and do not refreeze once fully defrosted.
