Description

Exo Terra Abutilon Silk Plant Large

The Exo Terra Abutilon Silk Plant Large is a realistic artificial terrarium plant designed to add natural-looking foliage, cover and climbing opportunities to reptile and amphibian enclosures.

At approximately 60cm long, its trailing design is particularly useful for adding greenery to larger terrariums, covering bare backgrounds and decorating branches or other climbing structures.

Unlike live plants, it requires no specialist lighting, watering or growing conditions, making it ideal for areas of the enclosure where natural plants may struggle to survive.

Exo Terra Abutilon Silk Plant Large for Natural Terrariums

The Exo Terra Abutilon Silk Plant Large provides an easy way to soften the appearance of a terrarium and create a more natural environment.

Its artificial foliage can be positioned amongst branches, cork bark and other décor to break up open areas and provide additional visual cover for the animals living inside.

It can be used on its own or mixed with live plants to create a fuller planted appearance.

Provides Cover and Hiding Places

Artificial foliage isn’t purely decorative.

Dense plant cover can help create sheltered areas where reptiles and amphibians can retreat from view. This is particularly useful for species that naturally spend time amongst vegetation or prefer having plenty of cover within their enclosure.

The large Abutilon can also be arranged across branches or allowed to trail down through the terrarium, helping make better use of vertical space.

Ideal Where Live Plants Struggle

Some parts of a terrarium simply aren’t suitable for growing live plants.

Heat, low light levels, dry conditions or the inhabitants themselves can make maintaining natural vegetation difficult. The Exo Terra Abutilon Silk Plant provides permanent foliage without needing the growing conditions required by a living plant.

It’s also useful in more practical or sterile setups, such as quarantine enclosures, where live planting may not be appropriate.

Easy to Clean and Maintain

The artificial construction makes the Abutilon straightforward to maintain.

Unlike a live plant, there’s no need for watering, pruning, fertilising or specialist plant lighting. When necessary, it can simply be removed from the enclosure and cleaned before being returned to position.

Silk foliage also provides a softer and more natural appearance than many rigid plastic terrarium plants.

Suitable for Reptiles and Amphibians

The Exo Terra Abutilon Silk Plant Large can be used in a wide variety of reptile and amphibian terrariums.

It’s particularly useful for arboreal and semi-arboreal setups where foliage can be arranged around climbing branches, but it can equally be used closer to ground level to create additional cover.

The plant is intended as terrarium decoration and should not be treated as edible vegetation. If an animal persistently attempts to eat artificial foliage, it should be removed.
