The Dragon or Rockmover Wrasse is a large predator of invertebrates. It hunts by moving rocks and corals to expose worms, shrimp, crabs and other invertebrates underneath. For this reason, they are not considered reef safe as they will most likely eat the clean up crew and also damage the reef. They are a territorial species and as adults should only be housed with other large boisterous fish. Juveniles do better with small, peaceful tank mates. It is not recommended to keep more than one dragon wrasse in a tank.

The Juveniles loosely resemble algae , even moving similarly to detached seaweed drifting in the ocean. The first two dorsal rays are elongated, giving this fish a very unusual appearance.
