Clearseal Premier Vivarium 48″ × 18″ × 18″

The Clearseal Premier Vivarium 48″ × 18″ × 18″ is a spacious, strongly constructed wooden vivarium designed for reptiles that benefit from a longer enclosure and plenty of usable floor space.

Built from substantial 18mm board with durable ABS edging, the Premier range combines robust construction with practical features including upper and lower rear ventilation, cable access and 4mm sliding glass doors.

It also arrives ready built, so there’s no large flat-pack vivarium to assemble before you can begin creating the enclosure.

Strong 18mm Construction

Clearseal Premier Vivariums are constructed from 18mm board, producing a strong and substantial enclosure designed for everyday reptile keeping.

Durable ABS edging provides a neat finish to the exposed board edges, while the internal board joints are finished with clear silicone sealant to help protect against moisture ingress from normal condensation, humidity, cleaning and occasional spillages.

As with any wooden vivarium, this doesn’t make the enclosure waterproof, so it shouldn’t be used for permanently saturated setups.

Supplied Ready Built

One of the biggest advantages of the Clearseal Premier range is that the vivarium is supplied fully assembled.

There’s no wrestling with a four-foot flat-pack enclosure before you can start the interesting bit.

Once the vivarium is safely positioned, you can begin installing the appropriate heating, thermostat, lighting, substrate, hides and furnishings required for the species you’re keeping. J&K specifically confirms that the Premier range is supplied ready built.

48″ Length for More Usable Space

At approximately four feet long, this model provides considerably more horizontal space than the 36″ Premier Vivarium.

Its dimensions are:

1219mm long × 457mm high × 457mm deep

or approximately:

48″ × 18″ × 18″.

That longer footprint can be particularly useful for terrestrial reptiles, giving you more room to establish a suitable temperature gradient, provide multiple hides and create a more interesting environment.

Species suitability should always be judged according to the animal’s adult size, activity level, behaviour and environmental requirements, rather than simply whether the animal physically fits inside the enclosure.

Upper & Lower Rear Ventilation

The Premier Vivarium incorporates ventilation at both the top and bottom of the rear panel, helping to provide more even airflow through the enclosure.

Good ventilation is an important part of managing a reptile enclosure, although temperature and humidity should still be monitored and maintained according to the requirements of the individual species.

Cable Access for Heating & Lighting

Built-in cable access ports make installing the necessary electrical equipment considerably easier.

Depending on the animal being kept, this may include heat sources, thermostatic controls, UVB lighting and other environmental equipment.

Heating and lighting should always be chosen specifically for the species and installed according to the equipment manufacturer’s instructions.

4mm Sliding Glass Doors

The front of the vivarium features easy-access sliding doors manufactured from 4mm float glass.

They provide a clear view into the enclosure while allowing convenient access for feeding, cleaning and routine maintenance.

The doors have non-slip handles and are compatible with suitable vivarium locking devices, although the lock itself is not included.

For reptiles with an inconvenient talent for opening things they aren’t supposed to, we’d strongly recommend adding a suitable vivarium lock.

Stackable Design

Clearseal Premier Vivariums can also be stacked, making it possible to create a more space-efficient arrangement when keeping multiple reptiles. Matching cabinets are available for the range as an alternative.

Any stacked installation should be positioned securely and the rear ventilation must remain unobstructed.

Kendal Oak or Concrete Grey

At Shirley Aquatics, this 48″ model is currently offered in a choice of Kendal Oak or Concrete Grey.

Kendal Oak provides a warmer natural wood-effect appearance, while Concrete Grey gives the enclosure a more contemporary finish.

For something that’s likely to become a fairly substantial piece of furniture in the room, having a choice that works with the surroundings isn’t a bad thing.

Creating the Right Reptile Environment

A good vivarium gives you the enclosure; what goes inside it should be determined by the animal.

The correct temperature gradient, heating, thermostat, UVB provision, substrate, hides, humidity and furnishings will vary considerably between species.

The extra length of this 48″ model also gives you more scope to create distinct warm and cool areas and provide environmental enrichment without sacrificing as much usable floor space.

For species requiring thermostatically controlled heating, always use an appropriate thermostat and independently monitor enclosure temperatures.
