The Black Devil Snail is a large striking species of snail that can be kept in a variety of set ups. They are an omnivorous species that will eat anything, making them an ideal candidate for clean up grew, especially in aquariums where smaller catfish and invertebrates may be predated upon. These snails will consume algae, decaying plant matter and uneaten food, leaving very little in its path. They are however not known for being great algae grazers on vertical surfaces as their shell is quite heavy. Plants are sometimes chewed, but this is not a preference for the Black Devil, so if it is well fed, it will not be interested in plants.

It is recommended that they are kept in alkaline conditions to help maintain a healthy shell, but additional sources of calcium, such as cuttlefish bone can be offered instead. Though similar in appearance to the Rabbit Snail, these are not in fact related.

The Black Devil Snail is able to exist in freshwater, brackish and even marine habitats. This snail will never become a pest in a tropical aquarium as it is unwilling to breed in freshwater.
