the Arc Eye Hawkfish is a delicate little fish that can acclimatise to a range of conditions and is a great for reefs. They can nip at smaller invertebrates like shrimps and crabs, but they do not damage corals or larger invertebrates. Arc Eyes can be somewhat territorial and should only be kept with other fish that can hold their own. Small timid species should be avoided and as they are a solitary fish, only one Arc Eye should be kept in the tank.
This fish is known for being territorial, especially towards smaller tank mates, so it is important that other tank mates are chosen accordingly and ideally, the Arc Eye should be the last fish to enter the tank.
They are quite a delicate fish and should be kept in a mature aquarium with powerful filtration to help keep water quality under control. Areas of decent flow as well as shady resting spots should be available for the fish to utilise for resting. They require a high protein diet of fresh or frozen mysis, brine shrimp, chopped fish and high quality flake and pellets. A varied diet is important to the long term health of all marine fish.
