Rainbow Kribensis – Pelvivachromis pulcher

The Rainbow Kribensis is a dwarf Cichlid native to Africa. It is a fairly peaceful fish that can be kept in most community set ups as it can tolerate a wide range of conditions. However, when the Kribs decide to breed, they will become very territorial and aggressive, so the aquarium must be large enough to allow space for everyone. Pelvivachromis pulcher can sometimes be found in a blue variation. They are close cousins of the sought after striped Kribensis that come in a vast range of colour morphs, depending on what region they originate from.

Albino Rainbow Kribensis Set Up

The Aquarium should be 90L upwards for a pair of this species. As Kribs are not particularly fussy about their water, focus should be placed more on keeping pH and KH stable. The aquarium should be furnished with wood, rock and plants, as well as caves and hiding places. They are cave spawners, so if other cave dwelling species are housed in the same aquarium, sufficient caves must be provided to ensure that there isn’t any squabbling. Ideally the substrate should be dark and soft.

Albino Rainbow Kribensis Tank Mates

Ideal tank mates include various Tetras, Corydoras and other peaceful catfish, Barbs and larger Rasboras. Avoid large Cichlids and Catfish as they may spook the kribs.

Feeding

Food should be offered in the form of flakes, granules and micro pellets as well as fresh or frozen fish foods such as daphnia, brine shrimp and mysis.
