Lavant Aquarium, Sump and Cabinet Set

The Cleair Lavant Aquarium, Sump and Cabinet Set is a little different from most large aquarium systems. Designed to look finished from both sides, the Lavant can be positioned against a wall like a conventional aquarium or used as an impressive room divider aquarium.

Its integrated sump filtration keeps bulky filtration equipment away from the main display, while the end-mounted weir allows an uninterrupted view through both long sides of the aquarium. Available in four sizes, the Lavant offers a distinctive alternative for anyone looking for an aquarium that can become a genuine feature within a room.

Lavant Aquarium Designed as a Room Divider

The standout feature of the Lavant Aquarium is its double-sided design.

Most sumped aquariums are intended to sit permanently against a wall. The Lavant instead positions its integral weir at one end of the aquarium. When used as a room divider, this end can be positioned against a wall while leaving both long viewing panels exposed.

This makes the Lavant particularly interesting for open-plan living spaces, offices, reception areas or anywhere an aquarium could be used to divide a larger room without creating a solid visual barrier.

It can still be installed against a wall in the traditional way. If you prefer this arrangement, a vinyl background can also be fitted.

Lavant Aquarium with Sump Filtration

A multi-chamber sump is housed inside the cabinet, providing a flexible filtration system while keeping filtration media and equipment away from the main aquarium.

Water travels from the aquarium through the integrated weir and pipework to the sump below before being returned to the display.

The open sump format makes it easy to customise filtration for different aquarium types and provides considerably more flexibility than relying on a conventional internal filter.

Mechanical filter floss is supplied with the system.

Integrated LED Lighting

LED lighting is incorporated into the aquarium canopy, keeping the overall appearance clean and uncluttered.

The lighting offers multiple colour options and settings, allowing the appearance of the aquarium to be adjusted to suit the display.

For specialist reef aquariums or demanding planted aquascapes, additional lighting may be required according to the needs of the corals or plants being kept.

A Cabinet Finished on Both Sides

The cabinet has also been designed around the Lavant’s room-divider concept.

Rather than having an obvious unfinished rear face, both sides have a matching appearance. One side provides cabinet access through a soft-close door, while the opposite side uses a matching false door to maintain the appearance of the furniture. Ventilation plates are positioned at either end of the cabinet.

The result is a much cleaner installation when the aquarium is positioned somewhere that leaves both sides visible.

Four Lavant Aquarium Sump and Cabinet Sizes

The Lavant range is currently available in four sizes:

The range is available in Hermes Grey and Smoky Grey.

Suitable for Freshwater and Marine Aquariums

The sump-based design makes the Lavant highly adaptable. It can be configured for tropical freshwater, coldwater or marine fish, with the sump providing space to tailor the filtration to the livestock being kept.

Its relatively slim 41cm front-to-back footprint is another advantage, particularly with the larger models. Even the 151.2cm-long Lavant 390 remains only 41cm deep.

Why We Recommend the Lavant Aquarium, Sump and Cabinet

There aren’t many aquarium systems specifically designed around being viewed from both sides, and that’s where the Lavant earns its place in the Cleair range.

Used as a room divider, the aquarium becomes part of the architecture of the room rather than simply another piece of furniture against a wall. The end-mounted weir, matching cabinet faces and hidden sump filtration have all been designed around that purpose.

And if plans change later, you’re not committed to using it as a divider — it works perfectly well as a conventional wall-positioned aquarium too.
