biOrb HALO MCR LED Aquarium Kit

The biOrb HALO MCR LED Aquarium Kit puts a contemporary twist on the classic spherical aquarium. Its distinctive overhead canopy conceals the waterline and houses the lighting, creating the impression that the underwater display continues seamlessly into the top of the aquarium.

Available in 15, 30 and 60-litre sizes, the HALO combines clear acrylic construction with remote-controlled MCR lighting and biOrb’s integrated filtration system. Everything required for the aquarium’s basic operation is supplied, leaving you free to choose the decoration and suitable livestock for your display.

biOrb HALO MCR LED Aquarium Kit

The defining feature of the biOrb HALO MCR LED Aquarium Kit is its concealed waterline.

On a conventional open aquarium, the surface of the water is clearly visible. The HALO’s canopy extends over this area, hiding the waterline and helping create a much cleaner, almost uninterrupted view of the aquarium.

Combined with the curved acrylic body, this creates an attractive display that can be enjoyed from virtually every direction.

MCR Multi-Colour LED Lighting

Integrated into the canopy is biOrb’s MCR – Multi-Colour Remote – LED lighting system.

Using the supplied remote control, you can choose from 16 preset colours, fade through the colour spectrum and adjust the brightness to change the appearance of the aquarium throughout the day.

Four automatic time-cycle options are also available, allowing the aquarium to progress through changing light conditions without relying on a separate plug-in timer.

The result can range from bright everyday illumination to more atmospheric evening and moonlight-style displays.

True 360° Viewing

The rounded acrylic body provides an almost uninterrupted 360° view, making the HALO particularly effective when positioned somewhere that more than just the front of the aquarium can be seen.

The airline is discreetly routed through the aquarium design and the main filtration components are positioned at the base, avoiding a conventional internal power filter stuck to the side of the aquarium.

This leaves the display itself clean and uncluttered.

biOrb 5-Stage Filtration

The HALO uses biOrb’s established 5-stage filtration system, combining biological, mechanical and chemical filtration with water stabilisation and oxygenation.

Water is drawn down through the ceramic media covering the aquarium base. The porous structure of this media provides a large surface area where beneficial bacteria can establish, forming an important part of the biological filtration system.

Waste is then carried towards the replaceable filter cartridge positioned at the bottom of the aquarium, where mechanical media traps physical debris and chemical media helps remove dissolved pollutants.

The filtered water is then circulated back through the aquarium.

Continuous Aeration & Circulation

The included low-voltage air pump powers the filtration system while also producing the HALO’s characteristic central stream of bubbles.

As the bubbles rise, they create water movement through the filtration system while simultaneously helping oxygenate the aquarium.

This provides continuous circulation without requiring a bulky conventional internal filter.

Clear Acrylic Construction

The HALO is manufactured from high-clarity acrylic rather than glass.

Acrylic allows biOrb to create the aquarium’s smooth spherical form while keeping the unit relatively lightweight. OASE also specifies a transparency rate of around 93%, giving the aquarium excellent optical clarity.

Acrylic is softer than glass, however, so suitable acrylic-safe cleaning equipment should always be used to help prevent scratches.

HALO 15 MCR

The compact HALO 15 holds 15 litres and measures approximately 30cm in diameter × 33cm high.

Its small footprint makes it particularly suitable as a decorative tabletop aquarium or miniature aquatic display. As this is a genuinely small volume of water, livestock should be selected particularly carefully.

HALO 30 MCR

The HALO 30 increases the capacity to 30 litres and measures approximately 40cm in diameter × 46cm high.

The additional water volume provides considerably more scope for decoration and suitable livestock while retaining the distinctive spherical HALO appearance.

HALO 60 MCR

At the top of the range, the HALO 60 provides a much more substantial 60-litre display.

Measuring approximately 50cm in diameter × 58cm high, its larger proportions make the 360° design particularly impressive and provide far greater flexibility when creating the aquarium layout.

Complete Aquarium Kit

Each HALO MCR is supplied with the essential equipment required for operation, so there is no need to purchase a separate filter, air pump or aquarium light.

A huge range of biOrb ornaments, plants and accessories is available separately, although other suitable aquarium-safe decoration can also be used.
