Description

3-4″ Hand Selected High Quality Koi Carp

At Shirley Aquatics we have a huge range of Koi Carp for Sale. Our 3-4″ Hand Selected High Quality Koi Carp are an excellent choice for anyone looking to add attractive, quality young koi to their pond at an affordable price.

Each fish is hand selected for its overall appearance, colour and pattern, giving you a varied choice of attractive young koi without the higher price associated with larger or individually graded premium specimens.

At approximately 3-4 inches, these are among the smaller koi we offer and are particularly rewarding for pond keepers who enjoy watching young koi grow, develop and change over time.

Whether you’re starting your first koi collection or adding to an established pond, our hand selected koi offer a great combination of quality, variety and value.

What Are Hand Selected Koi?

Rather than simply offering an unsorted mixture of young koi, these fish are individually selected for their colour, pattern and overall appearance.

The exact varieties, colours and markings available will naturally change throughout the season, so every selection is different.

They’re ideal if you want good-quality, attractive koi but aren’t necessarily looking for one particular named variety or individually photographed specimen.

If you’d like to choose particular colours or patterns, visiting us in store gives you the opportunity to see our current selection for yourself.

Why Choose 3-4″ Koi?

Buying smaller koi gives you the chance to enjoy one of the most interesting parts of koi keeping — watching them develop.

As young koi grow, their body shape, colour and pattern can change considerably. Providing excellent water quality, good nutrition and plenty of space gives them the best opportunity to develop to their potential.

Their smaller size also makes 3-4″ Selected Koi an affordable way to build a colourful group, rather than having to invest immediately in much larger fish.

They may be small when purchased, but remember that koi can eventually become very large pond fish. They need a suitably sized pond and shouldn’t be treated as permanent residents for small garden ponds simply because they’re young.

Keeping Your Koi in Good Condition

Quality koi deserve quality water.

A suitable koi pond should have effective mechanical and biological filtration, good oxygenation and stable water quality. Regular testing and maintenance will help keep conditions suitable as the fish grow.

Young koi can be active feeders and will produce increasingly more waste as they become larger, so filtration should be chosen with their eventual growth and stocking level in mind rather than just their size on the day you buy them.

Feeding Young Koi

Feed a good-quality koi food with a pellet size appropriate for smaller fish.

During warmer weather, young koi can be enthusiastic feeders and may be fed regularly, but avoid simply throwing large quantities of food into the pond. Offer amounts the fish can readily consume and adjust feeding according to water temperature, fish activity and the instructions for the food being used.

A varied, nutritionally balanced diet alongside excellent water quality will help support healthy growth and development.

Colours & Patterns

Part of the appeal of our high quality Hand Selected Koi Carp is the variety.

Stock can include a mixture of colours, markings and koi varieties, with the selection changing according to availability. The fish you receive therefore won’t necessarily look exactly like every koi shown in our photographs.

For many pond keepers, that’s precisely the attraction — you can build a colourful collection of individual fish and enjoy seeing how each one develops.

Growing Your Koi Collection

If you’re starting with young koi, the 3-4″ size is an excellent entry point into the hobby.

As your collection develops, you may also want to introduce some of our larger Hand Selected Koi, which provide greater immediate impact and allow colour, pattern and body shape to be appreciated more easily.

Choosing different sizes can create a varied pond while giving you the enjoyment of watching your smallest koi gradually catch up with the bigger residents.

If you have any questions about any of the koi carp we have for sale, please contact us and a member of our friendly store team will be more than happy to advise.
