What Are Hand Selected Koi?

Rather than simply offering an unsorted mixture of young koi, these fish are individually selected for their colour, pattern and overall appearance.

The exact varieties, colours and markings available will naturally change throughout the season, so every selection is different.

They’re ideal if you want good-quality, attractive koi but aren’t necessarily looking for one particular named variety or individually photographed specimen.

Keeping Your Koi in Good Condition

Young koi can be active feeders and will produce increasingly more waste as they become larger, so filtration should be chosen with their eventual growth and stocking level in mind rather than just their size on the day you buy them.

Feeding Young Koi

Feed a good-quality koi food with a pellet size appropriate for smaller fish.

During warmer weather, young koi can be enthusiastic feeders and may be fed regularly, but avoid simply throwing large quantities of food into the pond. Offer amounts the fish can readily consume and adjust feeding according to water temperature, fish activity and the instructions for the food being used.

A varied, nutritionally balanced diet alongside excellent water quality will help support healthy growth and development.
