40mm 11/2″ Corrugated hose /M

40mm or 1 1/2″ diameter multi purpose corrugated hose allowing more flexibility with fewer kinks. Available per metre up to a length of 30 metres. Just enter in the quantity box the number of metres you would like to order. Hose will be cut in one continuous length to order.

Corrugated material is highly flexible whilst reducing the chance of kinks occurring, even on tight corners. Easier to cut to the exact size you need and prevents hose clips and other fittings from slipping off.

Suitable for any kind of plumbing around the home, pond filtration, complex aquarium filtration, drainage, water butts, water features and a whole host of other applications in and around the home and garden. Flexible material in non transparent black offers good flow rate and prevents algae building up inside the hose by excluding light. Black hose makes it substantially easier to disguise in the garden, making the hose much less of an eyesore.

Can this hose be buried underground?

While it can be buried to some extent, there is still a limit to how much weight it can take. The hose is designed to retain its shape whilst remaining flexible. Some careful planning and consideration will help in making the hose less visible, without putting too much pressure on it and compromising its efficacy.

Is 40mm hose suitable for pond pumps?

It is the most popular size of hose for many garden ponds, but the flow rate of the pump will largely determine whether it’s suitable or you need a larger / smaller size. Whilst most pumps, filters, UV clarifiers and water courses come with a stepped hose tail, you should really check the fitting before deciding on the size of hose. If the hose is too small, it will slow down the flow. Equally, if it’s too large, there will be other issues relating to pressure.

Will Algae grow inside my hose?

No. Algae is a plant and is entirely dependent on light for photosynthesis. If the hose is not transparent, light cannot penetrate and the algae cannot grow.

Can I buy more than 1 metre?

Yes. This hose is sold by the metre, so if you need, say 5 metres, simply add 5 units to the basket and we will then cut you 1 continuous piece of 5 metres in length.

What clips should I use with this hose?

Double Wire Hose Clip 1 1/2″ is a clip designed specifically for this type of hose in this size.
