Vetark Fluke-Solve Pond Fish Treatment

Vetark Fluke-Solve is a licensed fish medicine containing 50% praziquantel, formulated for the treatment of troublesome parasitic worms in ornamental fish.

Its rapidly dissolving formulation disperses readily through the water without the need for boiling water or additional solvents, making treatment straightforward even at low water temperatures from 3°C.

Suitable for a wide range of ornamental fish including Koi Carp and Goldfish, Fluke-Solve can be used in both freshwater and marine systems.

Treats Skin & Gill Flukes

Fluke-Solve provides an effective treatment for skin and gill flukes, including commonly encountered Gyrodactylus and Dactylogyrus species.

These Monogenean parasites can affect the skin and gills of ornamental fish, causing irritation and potentially contributing to symptoms such as flashing, excessive mucus production, clamped fins and respiratory distress.

Correct identification of the underlying problem is important, as similar symptoms can also be caused by poor water quality and other parasites.

Also Treats Eye Flukes & Tapeworms

In addition to skin and gill flukes, Fluke-Solve can be used against eye flukes (Diplostomum species) and intestinal tapeworms.

Praziquantel is absorbed through the skin and gills during immersion, allowing the treatment to act against susceptible internal parasites without having to medicate the fish’s food.

Rapidly Dissolving Praziquantel

Traditional praziquantel can be notoriously difficult to dissolve in water.

Fluke-Solve uses a specially formulated form that disperses readily when added to the pond or aquarium, removing the need to dissolve the treatment using boiling water or solvents beforehand.

Each treatment contains 50% praziquantel.

Effective at Low Temperatures

One of the particularly useful features of Fluke-Solve for pond keepers is its ability to be used at temperatures as low as 3°C.

This makes it especially useful for Koi and pond fish when treatment is required during cooler periods of the year.

It can also be used in the presence of salt being used therapeutically.

Designed with Pond Treatment in Mind

Fluke-Solve is highly concentrated, with just 10g treating up to 2,500 litres of water. This makes it particularly convenient for treating Koi and other ornamental pond fish where much larger volumes of water are involved.

Although Fluke-Solve can be used with a wide range of fish, at Shirley Aquatics we generally recommend this product for ponds rather than typical home aquariums.

The quantity required for a small aquarium can be extremely small and difficult to measure accurately without precision scales. For example, a 50-litre aquarium requires only around 0.2g at the standard treatment rate. We therefore recommend choosing an appropriately dosed aquarium treatment where possible rather than attempting to measure very small quantities of a highly concentrated pond treatment.
