Clown Triggerfish is a large fish that's one of the most sought after fish in the hobby. It is a beautiful fish with a striking appearance that makes an amazing centrepiece for any marine aquarium. They are however not considered reef safe. Whilst most corals will likely be disturbed and rearranged, other invertebrates will most likely be eaten. Due to its territorial and aggressive nature, it's best to keep them only with other boisterous fish, avoiding all other triggerfish as they'll be considered competition. The Clown Trigger is however incredibly hardy and resilient and once settled, will thrive in most aquariums. They can live for ten years or more in captivity, giving you plenty of years to enjoy this stunning fish.
Ideal tank mates could be larger angels, surgeonfish, snappers, certain wrasses, lionfish, groupers, moray eels and puffers.
This is an omnivorous species that need to be fed predominantly meaty foods like krill, cockle, prawns and squid, which should also be supplemented with additional plant based foods like nori or spirulina. Offering a balanced diet is very important to the long term health of triggers,
