Weather Loaches are a very active fun species suitable for temperate aquariums. They are very large, so the aquarium must be at least 4ft long to accommodate one. They can adapt to a wide range of conditions and tend to be undemanding. Substrate should be sand to protect their delicate barbels and to allow them to engage in natural burrowing behaviour. The addition of bog wood, plants and rocks will help the weather loach find shady areas to rest in. There should be a tight fitting lid as they are accomplished jumpers.

These loaches are peaceful and highly social. They should be maintained in a group of at least 3 specimens. Tank mates can be any fish that isn't easily disturbed by the weather loach's highly active nature, but be aware that they eat small snails.

Weather loaches have been named so because of their reaction to low atmospheric pressure, which usually makes them erratic. They're like living barometers.

Food should be offered in  the form of sinking catfish pellets and fresh or frozen insecr larvae.
