The Emperor Angelfish is an impressive showpiece and in its juvenile form it is one of the most striking fish you'll ever see. But this fish is only for the largest of aquaria. It is not a reef safe fish and will nip at most soft corals and other invertebrates. Ideally, they should be kept with other large belligerent fish and never with small, timid fish, other Angels or their own kind. Some people have successfully kept them with the more noxious soft corals, but there is no guarantee of success. It is advised that the emperor angel is the last fish to be added to the community as it can become aggressive towards newcomers.
