Aquadip Frozen Bloodworm pack 100g
Frozen bloodworm is the perfect treat for your fish. Ideal for tropical fish or coldwater fish, it can aid in digestion as well as providing your fish with a more interesting and varied diet. Frozen bloodworm or blood worm are readily accepted as a natural prey item by nearly all fish as they are easy to see and very nutritious. Also known as mosquito larvae or midge larvae are harvested from freshwater lakes. Frozen bloodworm is often used by fish breeders as a component of maturation diets to help fatten up fish and bring them into breeding condition, which is when fish are at their most colourful. Aquadip frozen foods are harvested, cleaned and source frozen to ensure that they reach our customers in superb condition they are then gamma irradiated to ensure that no parasites or pathogens are present in the packs of food.
100 gram blisters contain 20 cubes and each cube is scored so it can easily be broken into two cubes! We also stock live small bloodworm bags as an even fresher option.
Feeding Guide: Feed your fish 1 to 2 times a day only as much as they will consume in a few minutes. Any uneaten food must be removed after the fish have finished feeding, before it has a chance to break down into harmful ammonia that could lead to water potential quality issues that would be detrimental to the wellbeing of your fish and other livestock.

Is Aquadip frozen bloodworm a complete food?
Bloodworm is a good food source when fed alongside pellets and other frozen foods to provide a more balanced nutritional profile. Variety is key!
How often should I feed bloodworm?
Most fish keepers will offer bloodworm and other frozen foods up to 3 times per week as part of a healthy balanced diet.
Can Aquadip frozen bloodworm be used to condition fish for breeding?
Yes. It’s a great source of protein that will help build up condition in breeding fish.
Can goldfish eat this?
Absolutely. Goldfish love this sort of food!
Is bloodworm better than brineshrimp?
We would have to say that on a nutritional level, brineshrimp and mysis offer a much broader nutritional profile than bloodworm, but on a visual level, bloodworm is usually more enticing.
Is frozen food better than live?
Each have their own merits, but frozen food tend to have more benefits than live. It does work out cheaper to buy a block of frozen bloodworm than to buy several individual bags that are mostly just water. Frozen foods are gamma irradiated and will not carry pathogens, parasites and unwanted hitchhikers, whilst live foods do have a small risk, especially if you tip the whole bag in instead of discarding the excess water.
Why do fish love Aquadip frozen bloodworm so much?
It’s all about aesthetics! Fish will readily accept bloodworm partly because of its bright colour, making it easy to spot and identify as a food source. It also resembles many of the worms and insect larvae that fish would naturally eat in the wild, so their instinct will tell them that this is good food.
Did you know? Despite the name, bloodworm are not actually worms. They are the larvae of non-biting midge flies and get their red colour from a natural form of haemoglobin that helps them survive in low-oxygen environments
