50cm Omosaku Showa Japanese Koi
Showa are one of the most popular varieties of Koi owing the their once rarity. They are often confused with Sanke, bt the difference is quite simple. Both varieties are a Gosanke type with three distinct colours of red (hi), black (sumi) and white (shiroji). Showa have a black base with red and white patterning whilst Sanke has a white base with red and black patterning. The patterning itself is not as heavily scrutinised in Showa as it is in Sanke and should wrap around the whole body, even on the underside.
Omosako Koi Farm are one of the best known breeders of high quality Japanese Koi. Located in Hiroshima, they have won numerous prizes for their outstanding and highly sought after Shiro Utsuri. They are in fact the first to enter a Shiro Utsuri that won a grand prize at the All Japan Koi Show in 2013 and are still considered the best breeders of Shiro Utsuri in the world. Their second farm is for their Showa and they are now working diligently to produce a new Showa variety that possesses both the grand physique of the famous Dainichi Showa and the lustrous Sumi markings of the Omosako Shiro-Utsuri.
This fantastic specimen carries a beautiful balance of all three colours of Showa. Markings are vivid and clear against the pearl white.
