The Fahaka Pufferfish is a large species of puffer from Africa. This fish is a voracious predator and known for being very aggressive. The aquarium should be very large, due to the Fahaka’s adult size potential and remarkably fast growth speed. The substrate should be fine sand as these fish like to lay on it and sometimes even bury themselves. There should be plenty of hiding places and plants, as well as dimmed lighting to keep this fish happy.

Fahakas are extremely aggressive and will not tolerate tank mates. They regard everything that moves as food, including hands, so caution should be exercised when cleaning out the aquarium as they can give a pretty nasty bite. Food should also be dropped into the tank from a height to avoid injury. Due to their meaty diet, the filtration should be powerful, but the flow needs to be moderate at best. Regular partial water changes are also recommended to keep the water quality under control.

Food can be offered in the form of prawns, mussels, krill and other meaty offerings. Remember to keep your hands out of the water when feeding because these fish will consider everything to be food.
